How Parking Meters Killed Privatization of Midway Airport

Chicago's Midway Airport has been in the works for a long time to be privatized. Late in 2013 it appears that effort ground to a halt thanks to Mayor Rahm Emanuel. The Midway Airport was part of the FAA's Airport Privatization Pilot Program. So far the only airport that is part of the program to successfully go private has been the Munoz Marin International Airport in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The Hendry County Airglades Airport in Clewiston FL is also working on going private but no deal has been made yet. It is interesting to note that there are many airports internationally that have been privatized but so far the USA has only been able to put together one airport, in Puerto Rico! And that only just happened in the first part of 2013.
